In addition to his role at ANI, Kwame is a business lawyer at Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP. Kwame represents businesses in a broad scope of legal needs including contract negotiation, business formation and structuring, finance, transactions (including acquisitions and contract preparation and analysis), employment, and general business and legal counseling.

As an attorney and mediator with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Public Policy, and a Juris Doctorate (Law Degree), Christian brings a unique multidisciplinary approach to making difficult conversations easier. He also serves as a professor for Otterbein University’s MBA program, as well as The Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law in the top-ranked dispute resolution program in the country.

Prior to practicing business law and founding ANI, Christian worked at the Kirwan Institute doing civil rights work. While at Kirwan, he focused on criminal justice and health equity.

Katherine Knapke is the Chief Operating Officer at the American Negotiation Institute. As the second-in-command at the firm, Katherine is responsible for the daily operation of the company. Her key responsibilities include client management, coordinating and implementing programs, and managing ANI staff, contractors, and interns.

Katherine also hosts the Ask with Confidence podcast, which is designed to empower women by helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to better navigate difficult conversations and achieve the highest level of success. Katherine’s background is in the medical profession as a Psychiatric Nurse trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and she is a Certified Mediator. She is dedicated to helping women overcome psychological, emotional, and societal barriers in the workplace.

Katherine Knapke RN, BSN

Justin is the Chief Financial Officer for the American Negotiation Institute. His primary responsibility is to manage the company’s finances which includes financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, and financial reporting.

In addition to his internal responsibilities at A.N.I., Justin also plays a role in deal consulting. His expertise in business analysis and accounting is critical to our ability to make sure that our corporate clients are putting themselves in the best position for success throughout the negotiation process. Justin brings years of banking experience to A.N.I. He was an accountant, RSCA analyst, and business analyst at JP Morgan Chase. He also owns JDM Tax Payroll and Accounting.

Justin Morris, M.B.A., CPA

Maria is the Head of Content and Marketing for ANI where she manages our social media presence, produces our top-rated podcasts, and manages our YouTube page. She also writes the majority of our articles that have been featured on Forbes, LinkedIn, and Mediate.com.

Maria is a dynamic professional who plays a critical role in the rapid growth of ANI. After just a few months, she was able to triple podcast production and double our social media followers.

Maria earned her two bachelor degrees in Business Administration and Marketing Communications & Public Relations from Ohio Dominican University. She also earned her Associates of Arts Degree from Columbus State with a concentration in marketing.

Shane Ray Marin is the Head of Sales at American Negotiation Institute, where he manages client relationships and develops strategic partnerships with various companies and organizations.

After struggling to have difficult conversations, he began learning about negotiation and applying his new skills in an interesting and sensitive environment at the San Francisco Suicide Hotline. With a negotiation certification from Yale University and American Negotiation Institute, he's on a mission to be a positive generational shift by helping others discover their best lives are on the other side of difficult conversations.

Shane loves to fly. Using his pilot license and helpful flight benefits, he has visited 42 countries.

Susan is the former General Counsel and Vice President at National Geographic where she managed business and legal affairs for the company. As the Principal of BorkeWorks, she is passionate about helping people become successful negotiators.

 

Susan honed her negotiation skills for over 30 years at CBS and National Geographic and uses her years of experience to teach business professionals the art and science of negotiation.

 

Susan believes that great negotiation skills come from a combination of knowledge, training, and practice. No one is born a master negotiator.

 

With a background in legal and financial administration, she understands the needs of C-level executives and their employees at domestic and international commercial companies, educational institutions, start-ups, and nonprofits.


Susan Borke, J.D.

Din (pronounced Dean) is an FBI-certified Crisis Negotiator and member of the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (MetroLEC) Crisis Negotiations Team. In addition to his role as a Police Sergeant in the Town of Stoughton, he is also the President & CEO, at Supply The Why™ LLC where he specializes in leadership and cultural development. 


He provides expert communication by facilitating difficult conversations about a number of topics ranging from Police Use of Force to Race Relations. Din also host a popular series of webcasts on the topic of difficult conversations that can be found on Linkedin, Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, Apple, iHeartRadio, and Spotify.


Din has a MS from Lasell University in Crisis & Emergency Management, Bachelors in Criminal Justice from UMass Boston and is a member of the National Criminal Justice Honor Society, Alpha Phi Sigma.

Din Jenkins, MS Emergency Management

Veronica Cravener is a versatile mediator who has mediated more than 500 disputes across areas such as business contracts, consumer-business, landlord-tenant, personal injury, neighbors, individual disputes over money, and post-employment disputes. She is also the lead mediator and trainer for Mediate to Achieve, LLC.

As the former chair of the Columbus Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, hosted a podcast called “Meetups with Mediators,” and author of articles featured in the Columbus Bar Lawyers Quarterly and Mediate.com, Veronica is a respected voice in the industry.

A seasoned presenter, Veronica has presented to audiences both locally and abroad. Notably, she was invited to present at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Workshop in Osaka, Japan on Developing a Collaborative Framework for Online Dispute Resolution.

For two years Veronica served as an adjunct faculty member at Columbus State Community College and taught Legal Environment of Business and Alternative Dispute Resolution among other courses.

Prior to becoming a mediator, she practiced law as a litigator. She earned her J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and her B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.

Veronica Cravener, J.D.

Tiffany Southerland is a lawyer by training, and a change agent at heart. As a corporate lawyer, Tiffany represented corporations at one of the largest law firms in the United States. In the current iteration of her career, Tiffany has committed herself to empowering individuals through current career and life challenges and moving them toward desired roles and opportunities. Tiffany has an impressive academic background. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Human Development from Cornell University, a Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice, and her Juris Doctorate (Law Degree) from The University of Pennsylvania Law School. This multifaceted professional and educational background gives her a unique perspective when it comes to negotiation and conflict resolution. She leads trainings in business and legal negotiations, women in negotiation, and strategic negotiations for career growth and development.

Scott Greenberg has 10+ years’ experience as a multi-unit, award-winning franchise owner (Edible Arrangements) whose operation won international recognition: “Best Customer Service” and “Manager of the Year”.

Anuj Jagannathan is a former senior level executive at Google and Visa and the author of a bestselling book Negotiation Quotient: Opening the door to a successful deal.

Anuj is a certified speaker, trainer, coach, and senior finance professional. He is a Chartered Accountant from India and a Certified Public Accountant in the US with leadership positions in big 4 consulting firms

Anuj has had diverse roles such as process transformations, process and systems design, audit (public accounting), corporate accounting and analytics.

He's also passionate about teaching negotiation skills to the next generation. He's the author of We Can Negotiate Too!, a book for kids and young adults to learn negotiation skills early in their life.

Mark Davis is a barrister (attorney) and one of the few global experts in cultural intelligence in the field of negotiation. He's the Founder and CEO of Negotiation Initiative, an inclusion-led negotiation training, coaching and advisory company, based in the UK, with a global client base.

Mark's unique framework empowers global executives to lead their teams through negotiation campaigns that leverage inclusion to maximize innovative, strategic solutions.

Mark is also a Partner Agent at Fine & Country, a luxury real estate agency, and a previous Principal Consultant at The Gap Partnership, a global negotiation consultancy working with over 500 blue chip organizations.

Mark is a negotiator who believes negotiating with people from different cultures—and organizational cultures—is becoming more and more common and therefore emphasizes the importance of cultural intelligence as a critical element of his trainings.

Simon earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design at the University of Los Andes in Venezuela. He started his company Mewa Deco, which is a furniture design brand based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is passionate about the psychology of sales and negotiation and specializes in sales strategies in changing economies. He also hosts the podcast “Negociación desde Cero” (Negotiating from Zero), which focuses on negotiation challenges in Latin American countries.

Simon Perez, Content Specialist

Kobie D. Christian is the Chief of Staff and Communications Director at the American Negotiation Institute. In this position, he manages all staff projects and plays a critical role in strategic planning. Kobie brings an incredible depth of expertise to the American Negotiation Institute. Most recently, he served as Deputy Communications Director for the State of Ohio in Michael Bloomberg’s presidential campaign. Kobie is a sought after communications consultant at Cavalier Agency, a firm he founded that has experience working with several globally recognized brands, local and national political campaigns (democratic and republican), and Fortune 500 companies. Throughout his career, he’s been able to simplify complex ideas by designing and executing communication strategies. With broad communications experience from the corporate, public, entertainment, and digital sectors, Kobie’s portfolio includes managing special products, coordinating media strategy, and facilitating partnerships and outreach.

Nandini is the American Negotiation Institute’s research intern. She is a junior at The Ohio State University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Organizational Communication. Her core interests lie at the heart of Psychology and Communications and implementing the study of these disciplines in the workplace. Nandini creates high level content for A.N.I. and conducts research on the psychology of persuasion. Nandini’s commitment to academic excellence led to the attainment of a prestigious internship at Lockheed Martin that focused on leadership development and organizational effectiveness. She is passionate about being involved in her community and that has translated into leadership roles, mentor positions, service learning, and inclusion advocacy.

Nandini Malhotra, Research Associate

Oluwaseun is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators. She holds a degree in Policy and Strategic Studies and currently a graduate student of Peace and Conflict Resolution in Nigeria’s Premier University and previously interned with the United Nations in Lagos, Nigeria. Her core interests are the inclusion of women in decision making and peace processes, in both the workplace and political sphere, as well as equal rights to education for the girls, and the participation of youths in the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. In 2018, she founded KIRA Beauty Palace, an organic skincare brand where she has been able to design and execute a sales strategy that has led the business to grow significantly in less than 2 years. Oluaseun’s community service project focuses on empowering youths to speak up against injustice and promote peace through negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Oluwaseun Kolawole, Research Associate

Annalisa Perez is a consultant at the American Negotiation Institute and helps analyze data and design content for a variety of ANI’s trainings and projects. She plays a critical role in our work in the field of diversity, equity and inclusion, and education. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University in 2016, she worked at the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity. There, she served as a program coordinator for a community-based pilot project called I Am My Brother’s Keeper where she built partnerships with community organizations, implemented programming, and interventions in schools, and oversaw the project’s experiential learning component. Annalisa went on to earn her master’s degree in Urban Education at the University of Chicago in 2020. She currently teaches elementary Language Arts and Social Studies in Chicago Public Schools, centering equity and student voice in her practice.

Tracy leads our public relations, marketing communications and media relations efforts while supporting our national and international brand strategy. As the founder of the Buzz Maker Public Relations, and as an Accredited public relations professional with more than 20 years of experience, Tracy has contributed to the success of more than 65 brands. She has also helped shape and grow leading brands via former leadership positions in the world of advertising, publishing and nationally televised programming. Tracy has also earned her certification in Negotiation from the American Negotiation Institute.

Tracy Teuscher, APR, Consultant

Dionne leads our business development and expansion efforts in the Northeast region. She is a former fashion executive in New York’s competitive women’s luxury wholesale industry, representing some of the finest European collections. During her time as the Director of Sales at French Fashion Label, Sonia Rykiel, she was able to successfully relaunch the brand in the US working with New York and Paris teams increasing sales by 30%. She was also recruited as part of the initial team to launch Kleinfeld, the New York-based luxury bridal emporium of “Say Yes to the Dress” fame, in Toronto, Canada. In addition to her role at ANI, Dionne has dedicated the next chapter of her career to empowering her community as the co-founder of her non-profit company, Financially CLEAN, a financial literacy program in the tri-state area, as co-host of the 5-star rated personal finance podcast, Two Black Guys with Good Credit, aka ‘The Lady with the Facts’ and, as a Life & Wardrobe Stylist working with women to create limitless possibility in their own multifaceted lives through Live Your Best Life For You, her Life & Leadership Coaching business.

Kacey-Marie is our administrative support specialist. In this role she manages communication, outreach, and social media marketing for the American Negotiation Institute. If you’re booking a workshop or scheduling with one of the members of the team Kacey-Marie will most likely be your first point of contact.

Timothy is currently a 3rd year senior at The Ohio State University, planning to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He wants to transform lives via life coaching, working with his clients to make positive shifts in mindset while also speaking around the country on the current state of dysfunction in the world due to egoic identifications. His ability to live compassionately shows in all his work and his avid service throughout his community. Timothy wants to use this experience as an ANI Intern to learn how to resolve conflict in the field of emotional wellness, helping as many people as possible understand the significance of their mental health. Tim’s community service project is a training for young people that will increase emotional wellness through focusing on three core concepts: self-worth, gratitude, and techniques that encourage introspection. Tim is collaborating with Michael to complete this project.

Timothy Hinton, Intern

Michael is currently a junior at The Ohio State University, on track to graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. Michael wants to help people live life to their fullest potential through nutrition and mindset improvement. Last summer, Michael was an intern for The Spears Group in New Orleans, Louisiana, working with the events marketing team, and he also worked with the editorial marketing team at the New Orleans Tourism and Marketing Corporation. Michael enjoys ANI’s mission to share their knowledge to help individuals improve their lives because everything in life is a negotiation. His favorite aspects of negotiation are the intentional listening and the mutual respect between each party to try and understand each other to find a solution. Michael’s community service project is a training for young people that will increase emotional wellness through focusing on three core concepts: self-worth, gratitude, and techniques that encourage introspection. Michael is collaborating with Tim to complete this project.
